BEDTIME READING FROM THE HAY FESTIVAL

BEDTIME READING FROM THE HAY FESTIVAL

The Hay Festival has come a long way. What started 29 years ago as a modest gathering for book enthusiasts, has grown in to a pretty big deal. Described as ‘the Woodstock of the mind’, for ten days, starting from the 26th May the small Welsh border town of Hay-on Wye will play host to some of the most interesting writers, filmmakers and thinkers around. There are a heap of events going on – find them all online at hayfestival.com

Just in case you can’t get there in person, we’ve found three authors who will be appearing at this year’s festival to talk about their new creations. All three sound like perfect bedtime reading. Ideal for summer nights and lazy days in the deckchair. Here are our picks…

Sleeper's Castle by Barbara Erskine: A follow up to her best selling Lady of Hay, this novel is set in Hay-on-Wye and tells the tale of two young women. Catrin, living in the 1400’s – when war was coming closer and love and rivalry between Welsh Princes and English Lords was the order of the day. And Miranda, who moves in to Sleeper’s Castle in 2015 to escape and grieve, and who feels an immediate connection to the past. Pre-order from amazon.com
