Wow! What a crazy few weeks. It’s been a month since we started selling our gorgeous After Dark Bath & Face Oils on the kissthemoon.com website. So, we thought it was a good time to take a little pause and look back at the past few weeks and share what we’ve been up to.
October was a biggy for us. After over a year of working behind the scenes to make our goodies as beautiful as possible, it was time to show the world what we’d been up to and find out what they thought (gulp!). We decided that because Kiss the Moon is a brand that likes to get up close and personal, the typical big launch party that most brands would go for wasn’t really right for us. So instead we decided to handpick a few of our favourite journalists, editors and beauty bloggers and invite them to a sleepover at the Charlotte Street Hotel in London, courtesy of Kiss the Moon.
Our guests arrived in the evening and were ushered in to the gorgeous little library – all dressed up to be as cosy as possible (fire on, calming music playing, champagne on ice) and decorated to reflect our four signature blends – roses on the mantlepiece for LOVE; jasmine and lavender plants nestled in the corners for CALM & DREAM and a bowl of fresh off the tree oranges to represent GLOW. As guests arrived, we took each person through a Kiss the Moon Journeycard to find out about their individual sleep and skin needs and understand which scents they instinctively liked the best – all with the aim of finding the perfect match Kiss the Moon face oil and bath oils to suit their needs. It was really interesting to see how the four blends fared and lovely to get such a positive reaction to the aromas. Everyone had their own favourites and all four blends had their fans, which is great to know. Although being a busy bunch – the CALM After Dark Face Oil went down particularly well as it is great at quieting over-active minds and helping busy brains switch in to sleep-mode.
It was amazing to hear from the magazine editors how reader interest in the topic of sleeping better was starting to boom. Farrah Storr, Editor of Woman’s Health told us that ‘sleep’ was the third highest searched for word on their website and the general consensus was that sleep and its impact on how we look and feel was going to be a hot topic for 2015. We hope so – it’s a massive issue that needs some serious thought.
With goodies to try in hand we ushered each guest to their suites. The Kiss the Moon team had turned each room (brilliantly comfortable on the best of days) in to a really special haven for sleep. With music to fall asleep to playing on the iPod, cashmere and silk sleep masks and hotwater bottles handmade for us by the talented Row Pinto, Jane Packer flowers, sleep tips aplenty and extra cosy throws – we quite fancied curling up on the huge beds ourselves. The bathrooms got some special Kiss the Moon style attention too – with fairy lights, extra thick bath mats and a specially made for the occasion LOVE room diffuser tempting people in. Of course the heroes of the whole thing were the Kiss the Moon night time bath oils and face oils all piled up and ready to try. We showed each person to their room and then left them to relax in a perfect little bubble of peace and quiet. Night, night everyone!
Of course – the proof is in the pudding – so for us, the key moment was when we met everyone for breakfast the next morning and asked the killer question – how did you sleep? We could tell from the happy faces that Kiss the Moon’s magic had worked. “Slept like a baby.” “Best sleep in ages.” My skin feels gorgeous.” ‘Loved the fact you can put the bath oil on your skin as well as in the bath for a double hit.” ‘Smells amazing” “Our readers will love this.” “Great products, beautifully packaged that solves a really important issue that is increasingly in the spotlight.” Hurray! We’re pleased as punch at the reactions and at the coverage that our guests and the other press and bloggers we have shared our products with are giving us.
Thank you all and please keep it coming. In particular, thanks to our media guests (Francesca White from Tatler; Kim Parker from Red; Gillian Davies from Good Housekeeping; Charlotte Jolly from Stylist and Farrah Storr from Women’s Health) and our beauty bloggers (Lydia from lydiaelisemillen.com); Carrie from wishwishwish.net: Olivia from whatolivadid.com; Meg from lipsofacto.com and Emma from milkteef.com. Plus a big hug to the unflappable team at the Charlotte Street Hotel and to Becky, Pandora, Mel and Kenzie and the Kiss the Moon team who helped make it happen.
