We have a feeling that 2017 might be the year of the pear. We’re noticing it popping up in all kinds of unexpected places. No wonder – with the crunch of an apple and the juiciness of a peach, pears tick the box as a tasty treat that is good for us. Low in calories (just 58 calories per 100g) and a good source of fibre, they contain phyto-nutrients and vitamins C & A, all of which help protect the body from harmful free radicals.
The fruit is a good source of magnesium as well as B-complex vitamins, making them a perfect late night snack that will help you get sleepy rather than keep you awake at night.
Check out these pear recipes from realsimple.com – there’s 15 to choose from, both sweet and savoury. Our favourite from the bunch is the Prosciutto-Wrapped Pork with Sweet Potatoes & Pears. Delicious.
