What makes a soak in a deep warm tub loaded up with scented bath salt so soothing before bed? We’ve chosen a combination of two salts for our Bedtime Bath Infusion range – Epsom Salts & Dead Sea Salts. Here’s a run down of what makes each one so special

Epsom Salts

Or to get scientific, magnesium sulphate salt. Magnesium is known as the sleep-inducing mineral and is essential for our health and wellbeing. Yet our diets often contain insufficient amounts and it is hard to absorb through the stomach, so as a result its a mineral that many of us are deficient in. Excess adrenaline and stress are believed to drain magnesium, a natural stress reliever, from the body. The good news is that studies show increased magnesium levels in the body from soaking in a bath enriched with Epsom Salt.

Magnesium helps the body make serotonin, a mood-elevating chemical within the brain that creates a feeling of well being and relaxation and so is perfect before bed. A soak in an Epsom Salt bath helps to remove toxins and heavy metals from the cells, easing muscle pain and helping the body to eliminate harmful substances. No wondered celebrities such as Victoria Beckham and Gywneth Paltrow swear by them to detox and depuff. Add to all this the softening effect of the salts on the skin and you have a night-time bath must have.

Dead Sea Salts

Containing up to eight times more minerals than most sea water, the Dead Sea is the saltiest in the world and has been a destination for people seeking out its therapeutic benefits since before Roman times. This is because the Dead Sea contains 33 per cent salt and these salts contain a super concentrated dose of magnesium, calcium, potassium and other minerals which are great for the skin and overall health.

Dead Sea Bath Salts strengthen skin tissues, stimulate blood circulation and eliminate toxins leaving skin moisturized, detoxified and softened. They’re often recommended by dermatologists to relieve symptoms of skin conditions such as eczema and psorisis due to their ability to soothe and restore skin’s natural pH balance. They also provide effective relief from joint swelling, soreness and stiffness so are great to use after a workout as they ease tired muscles. Adding them to a night time bath helps create a detoxifying, deeply relaxing soak that will leave you rested, eased and ready for bed.
