They really do keep the doctor away you know. Apples are extremely rich in antioxidants, flavanoids and dietary fibre. The phytonutrients in apples may help reduce the risk of developing cancer, hypertension, diabetes and heart disease.
If you want to max out on all the nutrients then eat them raw and with the skin on. But if you’ve got a whole treeful to use up, it’s handy to have a few ideas up your sleeve. One of our favourites is to press your harvest and turn it in to your very own brew of apple juice (or even better, cider). You’ll find apple pressers dotted around the country who will do the honours for you.
