We asked yoga teacher and owner of Stretch London, Sophie Whippy to demo a short set of yoga stretches that are perfect before bed to release tension and get your body fully relaxed ready to sleep
Here they are...
1. SHOULDER STAND (SARVANGASANA) It soothes the nervous system and lengthens the spinal cord releasing tension in the head, neck & shoulders - perfect for a good nights Zzzzz
2. CHILDS POSE (BALASANA) Calms the brain and helps relieve stress, by supporting the front of the body, the central nervous systems winds right down to a state of comfort and relaxation. Knees can be wide, or touching.
3. RECLINING BOUND ANGLE POSE (SUPTA BADDHA KONASANA) improves digestion, calms the central nervous system and opens the hips externally, hips hold a lot of emotion and tension.
