So what is behind the benefits of journaling? They say expressing daily gratitudes can boost your mood, improve your sleep and lower your stress. That's because it’s a way of tapping subconsciously into your brain, helping you to be more mindful and positive
Before you go to bed, write down three things for which you feel grateful. Getting into the habit of being regularly grateful can make you feel happier, lower your blood pressure, improve your sleep and rewire your brain to develop a grateful mindset. That’s because gratitude opens up your perspective, allowing you to appreciate the positive instead of focusing on your worries.
Start by writing down a few good things that have occurred in your day, including the small things that make you smile and fill you with gratitude. For example, “I smiled at a stranger and they smiled back”, “the sun looked gorgeous today”, “my body felt warm after my bath”. Gradually it will stop you from focusing exclusively on the negatives around you
