Natural is cleverer

There's so much that we still have to learn about natural ingredients and without 100% knowledge it's impossible to know how to recreate and tap in to their powers in a way that the body can use.  

Natural oils are a great example. Basic moisturising lotion is basically oil emulsified in water (with alcohol added to help with evaporation and chemicals to help with the emulsification). Regular brands then usually add a dose of parabens for preservation, artificial fragrances (to improve the smell). Finally there's a good chance there's a dose of petrochemical-based emollients (to soften and give the impression of smoother skin) or humectants (to enhance water absorption) and maybe so thickening agents.  All these additions mean that chemically, lotions tend to be long complex chains that the skin can't absorb - so they sit on the surface rather than being absorbed in to the living, layers underneath

Plant oils, on the other hand, are similar to the kind of oil that your skin produces naturally. Their simpler chemistry means they are more easily recognised and absorbed by the skin without clogging pores and can bind moisture to the skin while strengthening skin cell membranes.
