SPOTLIGHT: EMOTIONAL REST
When life becomes overwhelming, its time to find ways to step away from stress and take time for a little rest from all the emotion. Finding strategies that work can be tricky, but here are some of the ones we like best:
- Pick up the phone and reach out to a friend or loved one - a problem shared is a problem halved - and it never hurts to get a fresh perspective
- Journaling or recording your thoughts and emotions on paper can be a great way to gain clarity and help put them to one side for a time
- Activities that bring you joy and relaxation can bring emotional rest and some distraction, even if they don't seem 'restful' in themselves
- Getting outside and spending time in nature is a great way to find some perspective and ease some of the stress
