One of the most important tools for a good night's sleep (after our aromatherapy of course) is a decent pillow. It's there to support your head, align your spine and neck and provide a smooth soft surface to rest your head. We all know what it's like when we sleep with a bad pillow that is wrong for our sleeping style or is just worn out (weekend at the in-laws anyone?). With nightly use they can get worn out a lot sooner than you'd imagine
So how can you check that your pillow is still up to the job?
FEATHER OR DOWN PILLOWS
These natural pillows tend to last a lot longer than their synthetic cousins lasting between 5-8 years. The best way to test if they are still bed-worthy is to lie the pillow on a hard, flat surface like a table and fold it in half squeezing all the air out. When you let it go, if it springs back you know there is enough support left in the filling. If it stays there like a sad deflated sandwich it is time say goodbye
These don't last as long as feather filled and you can be happy if you get 2 years out of a synthetic pillow. Test these with the same folding trick but this time weight the top fold down with a heavy paperback (about 300g) and if the pillow flings it off as it springs back, you know the pillow is still good to go
